Clive Barker gained his initial business experience from working his way up with one company. Starting as an office assistant in London at the age of 19, a series of promotions led him to the position of Works Manager of the Manchester operations at 26, and eventually Managing Director at the age of 38 having helped to increase the turnover from £1m to £12m.
Meanwhile the company had been taken over by a large group and he was moved back to London in 1986 to combine 4 other group companies managing a total turnover of £18m.
In 1989 following an unsuccessful management buy-out, Clive started CSB Logistics. Providing strong leadership and astute financial management for 20 years as Managing Director, Clive has now passed on the reigns to his son Matt Barker and continues to act as an ambassador and mentor in his role as Chairman.
During 2004-2007, Clive was temporarily seconded as an Enterprise Advisor helping schools meet the new Government requirements for Work Related Learning and Enterprise. He still helps selected schools with these activities and gives students and teachers presentations on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
