We’re excited to announce the publication of a new report examining London’s role as a global city: ‘Fostering London’s Global City Status’.
The report was published by an All-Party Parliamentary Group for London as a Global City and produced with input from a variety of sources, including Connected, Liveable London and other LCCI groups.
The report is available online here and makes recommendations on how to improve transport links, reduce wastage, improve air quality and reduce the carbon footprint of London.
The report is a wide-ranging document, including ways to improve London’s status within the world for environmental issues.
London has an opportunity to enhance it’s status further as a leading global city, with its position at the heart of Europe, and its status as one of the world’s biggest financial centres.
The report highlights areas where it thinks London can make progress, including improving energy efficiency, reducing waste and increasing recycling rates.
The report urges the Government to support the Square Mile net zero 2040 initiative as a pilot for schemes in other areas such as Canary Wharf and calls on support for a range of initiatives, including:
- The development of an apprenticeship scheme for construction workers in London’s building and engineering sectors
- Creating a new ‘local skills passport’ to support businesses in accessing the right talent for their projects.
Everyone at CSB remain committed to ensuring we help to play our part in addressing the issues raised and continue to support jobs and growth in London’s construction sector. As a part of the LCCI, we look forward to working with the Government on these important issues.
